The Delegation of the University of Derby Visited HNUST

A delegation of the University of Derby, UK, led by Mr. Lewis Wernick, Director of International Admission Office at the university, paid a visit to HNUST on the afternoon of November 28th. A meeting on cooperation and exchange between the two universities was held in the Meeting Room 208 of International Education Building chaired by Wang Jing, Party Secretary of School of International Education.
During the meeting, Ms. Wang, on behalf of HNUST, extended her warm welcome to the delegation and then briefly introduced the university in history, disciplines, faculty, international education, etc. She noted that HNUST had already established cooperative relations with several British universities, such as University of Wolverhampton, University of West Scotland and University of Salford, and launched a China-foreign cooperative education project on Architecture for undergraduates with Sheffield Hallam University. Ms. Wang pointed out that the two universities share similarities in discipline setting, which was conducive to carry out exchange projects and share curricula. She hoped that this visit could serve as a good chance to promote the cooperation between the two universities and enhance mutual development in terms of teacher communication, student exchange and scientific research.
Mr. Lewis gave a brief introduction to the University of Derby.,which, founded in 1851 and officially renamed university in 1992, is a public university in Derby, England. With an enrollment of over 24,000 students at present, the university provides over 300 undergraduate courses. Mr. Lewis hoped that cooperation in substantive areas could be conducted to promote the discipline construction and mutual development, such as in teachers’ training, collaborative scientific research and student exchange projects, especially in scientific research fields of common interests.
After the meeting, presents were given to the delegation by the International Exchange Office of HNUST. It is reported that the school-level cooperation agreement between the two sides would be signed soon so the follow-up work in terms of specific cooperative items could be carried out timely.
